W/C 23rd March

Hi everyone,

Woohoo it is now the Easter holidays!

I hope you all have lots of fun things planned!

This week you have all been doing activities and finishing exams, so I haven't seen many of you! With 3 ESO we did some oral work in small groups, talking about the past, present and future.
I didn't have time to do the 'Describing Things / Inventions' lesson with the other 4 ESO group, so if you want to see it you can click HERE and do the activities and learn the vocabulary at home.

See you all soon!

Nicola

W/C 16th March

So, it was getting warmer last week, and then this week it started to rain, I am not happy! I hope it's sunny at the weekend as it is my birthday!! Anyway, this week a lot of you have been busy with exams, so I haven't seen you all...

With 1 ESO, we continued our work on dialogues, especially focusing on vocabulary related to food.

I didn't see 2 ESO because you had maths exams!

I only saw one group of 3 ESO, and we did some conversation practise. We will be doing this next week with the other group.

I only saw one group of 4 ESO, and we played a game in which you had to describe the different items you had on various cards to your partner and put them in the same order as each other. It was quite fun! Then we played a game similar to 'I spy' (veo veo), trying to guess items in the room by describing them.

Have a good weekend,

Nicola

W/C 9th March

Wow, it has been getting warmer this week! It seems like it has suddenly changed from winter to summer - and I'm not complaining! Anyway, here is what we did this week...

With 1 ESO we learnt about how Easter is celebrated in the UK. Click on the photo below to see the presentation:

With 2 ESO, we continued discussing the environment in small groups.

With 3 ESO, I talked to you all about how to discuss the future, when to use 'will' and 'going to'. You can see this presentation by clicking HERE

With 4 ESO, I did a different thing with each class. As my music presentation didn't work last week for one group, we did that this week. Click HERE to see that presentation. With the other group, I taught you how to describe objects. I will upload this presentation next week, when I have done it with the other group.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Poetry time!

For those of you in my 4B class today, Irene and I told you about the importance of pronunciation. If you want to see this in a fun way, you should read the following poem. If you remember, I studied English Literature at university and I really like poetry, so I thought I would share this with you. It's a poem which talks about all the annoying words in English that look similar but are pronounced very differently, or words that you think should be pronounced one way, and then you realise actually they're pronounced completely the opposite! There are many words in this poem that even native English speakers get wrong all the time, or don't know the meaning of, so don't worry, it's just a bit of fun!

I'll put the start of the poem below, but if you click on the link it will take you to a full version of the poem, where you can also hear it being read out loud.

Click HERE to read the full version

The Chaos
Dearest creature in creation
Studying English pronunciation,
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse and worse
I will keep you, Susy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye your dress you'll tear,
So shall I! Oh, hear my prayer,
Pray, console your loving poet,
Make my coat look new, dear, sew it!
Just compare heart, beard and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written).

W/C 2nd March

Hi everyone! We are now in March - I can't believe it! I'm going to take this opportunity to teach you an English expression:

'Time flies when you're having fun'. I'm really enjoying my time here with you all, and it's going so quickly!! :(

Anyway...
So this week with 1 ESO we continued with the new situational dialogues, putting the sentences in order and reading them out in pairs to practise our pronunciation.

With 2 ESO, we discussed ideas relating to the environment, and the future of the environment, in small groups.

With 3 ESO, we did the lesson that I had done the week before with 2 ESO, about the environment and the future. To see this presentation look at last week's entry on blog. We will continue learning about the future next week.

With 4 ESO we did different things with each class. With 4A we finished the module on music with a powerpoint I made to check your vocabulary...you all did really well! With 4B, we couldn't do the music lesson because the computer wasn't working, so we discussed the final oral exams and I gave you tips on how to do well in an oral test. I hope the advice was helpful! We will do the music lesson next week, don't worry :)

Have a good weekend!
